Sucking Big Wind 2.0
Sucking Big Wind - a brief history
One of the first to summit Mt Rainier said “there is nothing up here but a big wind” so while I was attempting to climb Rainier (2012) I started a blog with a play on these words.
It has evolved (even died) over the years. But now retired (2019) and living in New Hampshire, a new and improved 2.0 is back online.
Hope you find something interesting within.

Weird Fish of The Year
This turns out to be a member of the minnow family in the state of NH. They are named a Fallfish – not certain why. Coincidently that is when I caught this one. Typically they are only 5 or 6 inches long, but this guy was 16 inches or so.
He was caught on a chartruse Dalburg Diver, 8wt floating fly line on the North side of Eastman Pond late September fishing from my kayak.
They fight exactly how you would think a minnow would.
Dog of the Year
Golden Retreiver named Charlie is a first time winner of this award. He was born Oct 8, 2021 in Weare NH. Currently weights in at 65 pounds.
While still in his puppy crazy phase, he does have moments of actually laying still and not jumping on you.
Astro Picture of the Year
Milkey Way Galaxy from North side of Eastman Pond. Camara was Sony A6000 with Rokinon 12mm/f2 lense. Exposure = 20 sec. ISO = 2000, A = f2.0, Manual Focus = infinity.
The PhotoPills application was to used to find time/path of galactic center [Sep 24, 2022 at 9:30pm]. This is a great tool/app for outdoor photography and highly recomend. It has a nice Augmented Reality that intergrates with Smartphone cameras.
