Most people don’t know that hand built boats (not kits with CNC parts) require many patterns – in fact sometimes you start with a cardboard cutout (#1) to rough out a plywood shape (#2) to be used with tick-stick to finally get to the finished pattern (#3). With the finished pattern you rough out final board shapes and if you did things right fitting out not too bad. We will see how these come out – the last challenging part of this project. Those boards at front/back look like seats but for some reason they are called “Sheets” – not sure why.
- PS – Transferred from upcoming Wooden Boat School “Concepts of Design” to a “Fitting Out Small Boats” class. Want to up the game on next boat build!
