Not certain how or why he did it, but Bruce was amazing on Rainier.
We made a few training runs together up to Camp Muir (10,000 ft) and one of the more challenging parts were the “woop-de-woops” just above Pebble Creek. The 3rd one was steep and always crappy/slippery snow. I tried to climb up with my eyes closed and found it to be impossible without loosing my balance and falling.

On our way down taking a rest at 8200 ft.
Bruce did make it to top of Rainier – he also attempted Denali but just ran out of gas (something I can relate to)
Glad I got to spend time in the Mountains with him
