There are two versions these lines, the “Standard” and the “Quickshooter”
I have found the “Standard” line to work great on my Orvis Hydros 6wt. Typically throwing a medium size fly (No 1 or 2) bass bug. I can get an easy 70ft cast with this.
If I try this with the “Quickshooter” I find it overloads the rod and have to slow down my stroke which also limits distance (maybe 50ft). It does however cast a larger fly better. In fact for my 8wt’s I have the “Quickshooter” on both of them and they cast excellent for larger (2/0 and larger) bass bugs. While distance may be sacrificed they work in most situations where you can get close to the target.
No regrets buying these for warm water. Just figure out your fishing techniques and both have their place.
Note – these were originally bought for a Christmas Island Bonefishing trip. I used the Quickshooter on 8wt Sage Motive but with small bonefish flies. Not really not a great combination.
