Not certain why this lens gets such rave reviews.
The 32mm is equivalent to the 50mm (“nifty fifty”) on a full frame camera. The wide open aperture is 1.8 which is pretty fast (even by current standards)
It is slow to autofocus, does have good sharpness at all f-stops, has excellent color rendition but… both Sony kit lens are just about as good and have built in image stabilization. A used Touit runs about $350 and new one is $900; you can do much, much better than this. (It will occasionally deliver better than the kit lens in low light situations but with this Aperture that is expected.)
I have also found the in-camera Black and White conversions are not in the same league as the Fuji X10 base camera. This is really surprising based upon Zeiss reputation and cost.
Save your money.
UPDATE AUG 2023
Going to eat crow and say this is a pretty good general purpose lens – if shooting manual focus, the sharpness and color rendering is truly excellent. Not certain if I would buy this again – (got used from Richard K).
