Hot off the vise – we had a tree come down on the North Side of Anderson Pond and I know there will be a big Northern moving in late May. Fly is about 6 inches long, will have to see how well it cast. My experience with long tails on flies is not very good, they like to spin on backcast and generally a pain in the butt.
This should get his attention – I have caught lots of pike in this little pond and I have seen a very large one that I hope to get this spring. The tree came down in a perfect spot – next to a feeder brook, right in their spawning beds, and extends from shallow to deepest part of pond. My neighbor got a nice 36″ one last year close to this location so pretty confident I can get the big girl this year. Have seen at least a 40″ pike here (chased the end of my fly line – not interested in the fly at all, just liked the color of the line I guess).
PS – I stopped fishing pike here end of last summer as I caught two back to back and neither of them put up much of fight – assume water temps and didn’t want to kill these, we’re really lucky to have in our pond as they are not that common in NH ponds.
