Here are a couple of Dynamite’s books in my collection. Mixed reviews on these. The Dory Model Book was purchased 20+ years ago and has some interesting ways to build small boat models using a plug technique. Have used this method for a few models and it does work quite well. The McInnis Bateau below is just using Dynamite’s technique and offsets from John Gardners “Classic Small Craft” book. Dynamite includes pretty good drawings and sufficient offsets to build 3 dory style models (Banks, Friendship Clam, and Friendship Semi-Dory) – overall I would say if interested in building accurate models for historic small boats, this is a good way to go. Note, you can also use the plug as a mold and build via traditional planking – I built a 1870 Higgings and Gilford dory (solid plug and lapstrake) and it was great until destroyed in move. Now – about Instant Boatbuilding… I did not like this at all – he uses a tape/epoxy methodology which in my opinion does not build a great boat – maybe an adequate one, but not a great one. There are a decent amount of scaled drawings included, but most were missing the offsets and other critical dimensions. So, if you wanted to build one, you had to “purchase” his plans – to me this is kind of a bait and switch marketing book which I cannot recommend anyone buying. Save your money – look at anything by John Gardner for better boat designs and more robust building techniques.
