Was in front yard today trying to figure out kayak storage and saw what looked like a falling leaf – except it had directional control. Landed about 40 feet away. I was able to get camera and get decent picture of a Luna Butterfly. I have seen and photographed them before while in Kentucky (Lake Cumberland fishing trip) many years ago, but this is first time I’ve seen in NH. Pretty cool.
Wingspan is probably 4 1/2 inches or so. They are not really rare, but not frequently seen by people – only come out late at night and have 4 day lifespan.
