Happy to see these guys around prepping for winter.
We’ve had at least 3 barred owls hanging around this past summer and all of the red squirrels and chipmunks kind of disappeared. Guess these little guys can’t resist the pine cones (they eat them like corn on the cob). They hide them (and mushrooms) all over the yard for winter supplies and watching them becomes our live entertainment over the winter. Different life here in the NH woods.
As a side note, just saw great blue heron in backyard/pond – very unusual that he is hanging around even though temps are well below freezing. He should have been heading to Florida a few weeks ago.
