I was lucky enough to do basic training at Fort Knox. They were still using the WW2 barracks back in 1975 – a bit of a cultural change for me.

Inside the barracks – the red cans are for cigarette butts – back then, just about everyone smoked.

We had 3 hiking hills in KY as part of training – Agony, Misery and Heartbreak. I believe this is Misery. Don’t recall having issues with these, but than again, I was 18…

I do recall our Drill Sergeant Madison getting hurt in motorcycle accident and we got a “nice” replacement Instructor. Was happy Madison got out of the picture, he was a complete asshole.

Overall, the Army worked out well for me – paid for college, my first house etc… so no complaints.
