Going to start building a strip planked paddle board for granddaughter. Reviewed a few designs and settled for a Jarvis Design (San Marcos 11.4). Ordered frame patterns and reviewed online build guidance. Have never done this method before but look pretty interesting.
UPDATE (3/23/26)
Received the epoxy/fibergalss/plastic parts couple of days ago – took about 10 days. Still waiting for frame kit to arrive, Got email from them it was shipped and will be here 3/29/26. A bit disappointing for how long it takes for them to send.
Worked cost estimates for strips – probably going to pattern the ribs onto some sapele 6mm that I have laying around and spend an extra $100 on cedar. Goosebay estimates below.
FINAL DECISION ON PLANKING/RAILS => Eastern White Pine, 8 boards 14 ft long, 5/4×6 S4S from Goosebay ~ $360 The price of good cedar has gone insane last 2 years. It would have cost at least $1300 for decent white cedar.

Strip Planking Material/Cost Estimate
Rethinking this and decided I want to cut strips in single pass, so need boards to be 6 inches +

Eastern White Pine it is! – Enough for skins and side rails. About $360
