Last month, I made a quick half hull of my version of a 16-ft Amesbury Skiff -GLS (glued lap strake). Wanted to take it to WBS and compare to the actual Amesbury Skiff we were building in Brooklin to see if major issues or problems were apparent. My model came out pretty well and really impressed Graham McKay. Model closely replicated traditional (no lines/plans) boat. Decided that when I got back to NH, I would put a bit more effort into a second one and since I was working models, redid my original (and 1st ever) Beach Pea. They both came out better than originals and I finished them a bit differently – keeping glossy and no bees wax. Not certain I like glossy over the matte I generally use.

Patterns for “Lifts” are the waterlines from lines drawing

All boats need lots of clamps no mater their size

Lessons learned – you need square the back to centerline before you start carving

Glued lifts set in jig to saw the profile on bandsaw

Hardest to do – easiest to screw up

Primer and wood filler fine as hull will be painted

Reconfigured Pellet Stove/Downstairs TV Room

Entry looks good, but I really like TV room!
