Decided to spend day fishing instead of working on shop. Very warm day but at least it wasn’t raining. Fished for almost 5 hours and only couple made it to kayak. Thought deep weeds would be the place so didn’t bring fly rod. Did catch one there (Texas rigged senko), but tuns out the bass would take surface lures on West side of Eastman Pond. This is a decent fish (that is a 6-inch chug bug for reference). Had a couple strikes but couldn’t connect (typical topwater!). Had my typical spinning reel issues, pretty certain the spinning gear will be retired as very frustrating when the bite is on and you have to deal with tangles!!!
Decided last night another trip to Christmas Island (Kiribati, go to Hawaii , head south 1000 miles) to fish for bonefish/GT’s is in the cards.
Wait listed with Red’s for Feb, else going with Gig Harbor Flyshop in April. Need to get another 8wt for backup rod. Thinking either Loomis NRX+Salt, or Sage R8.
