Here’s my best estimates. I did not keep an exact daily time sheet, but recorded most elements in shop notebook. These are all pretty decent figures.
Materials
- Jarvis – Plans, Ribs, Glass, Plastic Parts (no fin), Epoxy – $600
- Amazon – Fin, Carry Strap – $35
- Jamestown – rollers, chip brushes, Captains Varnish, – $112
- Goosebay – Northern White Pine @ $3.75 ft. 8 boards 5/4 x 14ft – $420
- Misc Shop Supplies = maybe – $200
TOTAL MATERIALS = around $1,400
Labor
- Build Strongback – 4 hours
- Rip strips – 5 hours
- Assembly of fishbone – 3 hours
- Strip all hull and block – 40 hours
- Rails – 5 hours
- Front and transom plugs – 3 hours
- Form/sand – 4 hours
- Stain top/bottom – 3 hours
- Plastic parts (Finbox-3 hours – others 2 hours)
- Seal coat – 2 hours
- Glass – 5 hours
- Fill coats – 4+ hours
- Sanding -8 hours
- Varnish – about 2 hours per coat
- Install Bungee and Padding – tbd
TOTAL LABOR = probably a little less than 100 man-hours
